Obama came riding into history touting real change in Washington.

While I'm still an adamant Obama supporter, I don't blindly follow everything he's going to do. Unlike a lot of the Bush apologists out there -- I'm pretty reasonably educated and capable of some independent thought processes. So that's why I'm a little taken aback that the best person for the job of Secretary of State -- is turning out to be Hillary. And while that sounds like an ultimate "diss" on Hillary -- it's not. I come from a very well skewed view of foreign relations -- as I don't believe in Reagan's "cowboy diplomacy" or Bush's "Darth Vader" approach to the world stage.

Colin Powell had it.
Madeline Albright had it.
James Baker even had it at times.

There's a certain gravitas that they bring to the international community. Not trying to grab the international spotlight. Not trying to thumb their nose at their adversaries or behave in some sort of insolent manner, but you build alliances and solidify your friendships to reach your common goals. Bush has vigorously RIPPED those alliances to the point where no one considered the United States to be much of an ally.

All that changed the moment Obama was elected and the world leaders responded in kind -- even some that wanted to deal directly with him instead of the Lame Duck still quacking in the Oval.

If Hillary is his only choice -- then I really wished that he would've had Joe Biden tapped for Sec. of State instead. The man gets foreign policy and while I have every reason to believe Joe will do great things from the V.P. -- Hillary would've made a great V.P. as well, but not as good in Sec. of State. She's a bit too flamboyant for the job -- and the international scene may not take too kindly to that.

I do hope she proves me wrong. Because while I do believe that this position is one of those "highly heralded" type positions in any administration. It's a cornerstone in how you're going to interface with the rest of the world and it would've been wonderful to see the likes of a "no non-sense" position for Colin Powell, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. I can't blame Colin though - not after what he endured under this last regime.

Several critics have come out against Obama's choices for various positions citing that there's no real change coming if he keeps appointing from the "greatest hits" from the Clinton years. If Barack is listening (and I know he visits Spoonsrant all the time) -- "Americans demanded change, not a revisit of the 1990's."

It's going to be Biden....

I love Joe...

I think he's going to make a great vice president..

I've said this before, Hillary was not the right choice.. That's not saying that this country isn't ready for a female president -- this nation IS ready for a female president .... not this woman, however.. I would love to see her in the cabinet - but I think her ego is too big to be a cabinet secretary.. I would've loved to see Kathleen Sebelius as his vice president.. She has the "can-do" attitude down pat..

There's been a lot of fervor with this announcement ... and it's going to get a lot of airplay in the next few days.. And this is going to make it harder for McCain to catch up..

Hillary again....

I remarked back in March that Hillary has lost my respect, now she's starting to lose what little credibility she has left.. She recently invoked the "RFK" assassination quip as though she's hanging around in case something happens to Obama..

Excuse me??

Hanging around for someone to be assassinated so that you can become the Democrat contender in November??

This was really the last gaffe she has left her in bag of tricks.. Even the non-apology she gave wasn't much of one -- especially in light of the incredibly difficult prognosis for Ted Kennedy and his brain tumor..

It proves to me once and for all that she lacks the fortitude and respect to earn the position of being President of the United States.. Right, wrong, accidental or not -- how can you invoke the assassination quip as the BASIS for staying in the race?? That's inconceivable and utterly reprehensible..

At a time when we should be focusing on enacting real change for the direction of the country, we're left with this incredibly horrific insight that Obama will be assassinated before he wins the nomination on behalf of the Democratic party..

I don't see how she can sleep at night -- having this much negativity in her soul to actually have the audacity to invoke the "RFK" history as a basis for her to stay in the race.. It goes beyond poor sportsmanship, it transcends into the depths of being forever the stain in our humanity..

Shame on you Hillary..

I'm really sick of the whole Hillary and Obama thing..

Honestly -- I'm EXTREMELY fed up with Hillary and yep -- I'll fully admit it -- I'm abandoning the Clinton ship.. I find her tactics to be as vile as Rove and as insidious as the swift boat vets against Kerry.. If she's really trying to separate herself apart from Obama as the candidate of hope and choice -- then I think she's failed miserably..

It does show that the country is in great divide, and that makes me even more frustrated that Democrats can't come together to find themselves a candidate.. The process has left me even more frustrated with the party that most closely resembled my ideals and way of life..

Bottom line: it's hurting the Democrats and the revolution to make change in the country.. Howard Dean is right for once: "end this.." He wants Hillary to drop out -- because he sees that she's dragging the party like a big ass anchor behind us..

If the Democrats lose again in 2008 -- we can all thank the Clintons for this.. I think it's incredibly petty of them to continue when the Republicans are poised and ready to confront Hillary -- whom they believe they can beat single-handedly.. Don't believe me?? Look at what Rush says about it -- and then realize that they want the weakest candidate to win -- why else would they be endorsing Hillary??

C'mon Hillary -- do the right thing for the party and the country...
